• MP3.com -- Still the leader on the free-MP3 block, MP3.com is the No. 1 place to go. It offers many services such as unlimited song postings, lyrics, graphics, and tour dates, and it features a "Cash for Playback" program. All it takes to start downloading from MP3.com is an email address (bogus or real) and you'll be set.

• IUMA -- The Internet Underground Music Archive is similar to MP3.com. The added benefit is it doesn't require anything to begin downloading music. Many lesser-known artists can be found at this site.

• Rapstation -- If you live for hip-hop, then this is the site for you. This site was started by Chuck D. of Public Enemy fame, so you know it must feature good, quality music.

• Epitonic.com -- This site features a clean interface and a whole lot of jams. An added bonus of this site is it lets you create your own playlists of songs that are stored on its site if you don't feel like downloading them.

• Vitaminic -- This site is the European equivalent to Epitonic. Music from many popular artists can be found here.
